Ironwood High School Booster Club: March 2013

In February parents, teachers and fellow students had an opportunity to nominate deserving students. Each winning student received a $10 Harkins Gift Card AND a $5 Yogurtini Gift Card. Here is a little bit about our winners for the Share The Love Amazing Student contest:

Austin Huerta is a student athletic trainer at Ironwood. He is a devoted member of the Sports Medicine Team working all 3 season. Student Athletic Trainers often arrive hours before the starts of games and leave well after the games have been completed, their hard work and dedication often go un-noticed by athletes, fans, and coaches. Austin was recently selected by the AIA to help work the State Wrestling Tournament in Prescott, AZ. Austin is the first IHS Student Athletic Trainer to ever be accepted.
Michael is a junior IB student who is battling cancer. Even though he is currently undergoing chemotherapy, Michael continues full time in school, never falling behind. He plays with the marching band, and is active in sports and extra curricular clubs. Michael also just completed his Eagle Rank in scouting. And to top it all off, Michael is liked by everyone who meets him!
Amanda Sumner always goes above and beyond in everything that she does. Amanda is an awesome student, always willing to help another student out. She keeps up on all of her assignments even with attending the cosmetology program each evening through WestMec. Keep up the good work Amanda!!
Joseph Brown, Junior, is in the top choir (excelsis), the volunteer all guys choir (Ironmen), and he is in the cast of the school musical (Copa Cabana). He recently auditioned into the prestigious all-region choir through the Arizona Music Educators Association (with a ridiculously high score of 34 out of a possible 40 on his sight singing). What makes

Joseph so special is that he is completely unassuming and soft spoken: to see him in the halls or in class you would never guess he is as gifted as he is. He is always respectful, responsible, and prepared in all that he does, and he carries himself with a quiet dignity and confidence. He is so strong and vital to our program, that we notice him most on those few occasions that he is absent from rehearsal, as without his solid bass sound the choir sounds and feels incomplete.
Freshman Zac Moore from the basketball team this winter season. Zac played hard, showed determination, and always had excellent sportsmanship!
